The Summer Reading Challenge is returning to our libraries once again this year!
The 2025 challenge launches in all three of our libraries on Saturday 12th July.
This year’s challenge theme is ‘Story Garden’, an enchanting take on nature and the great outdoors, where children will discover magical creatures, vibrant plants, and beautiful landscapes through reading. This year’s Summer Reading Challenge features artwork from award-winning illustrator Dapo Adeola, whose stunning illustrations will bring the Story Garden theme to life.
For all children aged 4-11, the Summer Reading Challenge is free to join in with and runs throughout the summer holidays. It's all about reading for fun, aiming to improve children's reading skills and confidence.
Children can read anything they like (really - anything!) and if you take part through your local library you can pick up a fun sticker booklet and dive into a garden full of surprises (spot the yeti!). As you read, you’ll collect stickers to place in spots around the garden and be awarded once you meet your reading goal!
We are excited for the challenge to begin and not only do we have the challenge running through the holidays, we also have a super schedule of events taking place at our libraries over the summer. We’d love for you to join us and get stuck in.
Want to sign up to the Summer Reading Challenge? Just pop into one of our libraries or find out more on The Reading Agency’s website.
